Chakras?

Chakras?

Have you ever heard the word Chakra?

Maybe you were at a yoga class and your yoga teacher kept on talking about straightening the spine to align the chakras and you kept on wondering: what is the meaning of chakra?

Well, years ago I had no idea what this meant too. But as I got curious, I found out that this is a large topic with a lot of details depending on how much expertise you wish to gain in this field of energy healing and training.

So here is a very simple explanation of the chakras system as ancient knowledge has come to us through teachers and masters.

Chakra is a Sanskrit word which means wheel. Basically we have seven chakras along our body. They are wheels of energy that optimally are spinning, open and connected. The disruption of the connectivity or the function of one or more of them could cause a dis-ease in our body including emotional, mental and physical.

Here is an excerpt of my chapter “Healing with Reiki” in the Best Selling Book “Healing” where I talk about the chakras:

“We all have 7 main chakras in our bodies and they have different places, colours related to them (the colours of the rainbow) and different roles:

The Root Chakra: coloured Red, located at the base of the spine at the tailbone, is responsible for our connection to the ground and material possessions.

The Sacral Chakra: coloured Orange, located at the lower abdomen two inches below the navel, is responsible for our sexuality, relationships, connection and creativity.

The Solar Plexus Chakra: coloured yellow, located in the upper abdomen in the stomach area, is responsible for our self-confidence, self-worth and self-esteem.

The Heart Chakra: coloured green, located in the chest area above the heart, is responsible for our ability to love and receive love.

The Throat Chakra: coloured blue, located at the throat area, is responsible for our ability to communicate.
The Third Eye Chakra: coloured indigo, located on the forehead between the brows, is responsible for our intuition and capability to see the big picture.

The Crown Chakra: coloured White or Purple, located on the top of the head, is responsible for our connection to the Divine.

In general we need our chakras open, spinning and connected to have the perfect energy body, which is conducive to perfect health in general. We can intentionally close our chakras when we need to close off our energy to the external world, like for example if we are going to a crowded place and we do not want other people’s negative energies invading with our space.

As I practice more Reiki sessions, I am able to help people regain their energy balance, relax, rest, ground, heal their heart, regain self-confidence, release anger, and frustration and resentment, reduce their mind chatter, unleash their creativity, connect with a higher power, listen to their intuition and many more beautiful gifts that Reiki can give.
I am proud to say that we as humans are evolving and are starting to accept the fact that we need energy healing to complement the traditional physical healing, which is clear to me now that I am receiving more requests for Reiki healing be it hands-on or Distance Reiki. “
